Despite its growing openness score of 72, the Thailand passport does not currently grant visa-free access to the Schengen Area. For travel to most European nations, including Germany and France, as well as the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, Thai passport holders are required to obtain a visa in advance. The passport ranking has shown significant improvement over the years, rising from a visa-free count of 29 in 2006 to its current level.
